5 out of 5 stars Well worth it   November 24, 2008

I just splashed out on a HDTV so didn't want to buy an expensive Blu-ray player just yet, therefore I decided to get this player as a stop-gap. I'm very glad I did as the quality is excellent! I'm not sure how it compares to a Blu-ray, but it is certainly far better than my old standard DVD player. I wonder if the fact that it removes the analogue stage by using a HDMI connection rather than scart makes the most difference, rather than the upscaling part of it.

Lovely DVD player at a great price.
Bought just over a month ago but it's had tons of DVD playtime and I've had no problems thus far.

Mine is a multi-regional. I think the models are if you buy them through Amazon Marketplace (I maybe wrong) but just double check this before you order.

5 out of 5 stars Sony do it yet again.   November 18, 2008

This has a great picture and really good sound. I've only had a few hours but this product is good. There are a few tiny little moans. The first is that even though it says i can work my TV from the remote vie a code, it just doesn't work. ( MY Tv being a LG LCD). The front is a bit basic but I like that but some won't.....Tiny things but all in all, its agreat DVD Player....

1 out of 5 stars Not Multi-Regional   October 19, 2008

I bought this product on the basis it was multi-regional. It was not, and if someone tells you to take it to your local Sony Shop and they will do it for you, they will, but for 50. Not Happy!

I've only used it a little so far, but I just had to share this: contrary to some reports, this is not a multi-region player.

At least it remembers how far it played a disc!

... Update: it turns out my local hi-fi center can do it for a tenner, so that helps.
