better than expected October 26, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Excellent picture quality and sound and as big as you'll need in a small living room.
Some reviewers have complained about the KDL26V4000's ability to tune to a weak Freeview signal. The digibox I had with my previous TV was never able to pick up Freeview using our existing elderly aerial. This set has located it with little problem however.
Gives a fantastic HD picture from freesat too. Pity that Sony don't make a freesat box which can be controlled with the TV remote.
I was slightly worried that it would be vulnerable to the attentions of our toddler, but the heavy metal base is quite enough to stop it falling over even if pushed, and the on/off controls are located on top of the set where she can't reach them.
DISSAPOINTING PRODUCT BUT GREAT SERVICE FROM AMAZON October 26, 2008 11 out of 16 found this review helpful
I ordered this TV Friday at 2.30pm and paid for express delivery (8.99) and it arrived Saturday at 8.40am. Very impressive service.
I already have a Sony 40" Tv in lounge (KDL40X2000) whish is fantastic, and I ordered this one for the bedroom but was very dissapointed in it and returned it for a refund. (Again Amazon's service was superb, I printed out returns labels, followed instrunctions on the couriers website link to arrange collection, which was free, and made an appointment for the next day)
The TV picture was no where near as good as our lounge tv, it was grainey and you could see pixel fuzziness when about 6 foot away from TV. I was really dissapointed as I expected much better quality from Sony.
If you remove the plug from the mains when its all tuned in it does not need re-tuning as the previous reviewer was told by sony because I tuned it in upstairs then switched it off at plug for a few hours then put it on again downstairs and all channels were still tuned in, so don't let that worry you with the sony range of TV's.
I always turn my lounge tv, dvd, sky plus box, computer and video off at the plug every night and everything stays tuned in and nothing is lost, and it saved me 11 a quarter on the electric bill and helps the planet!
If you're used to a better model tv in the sony range as I am with my lounge TV (X range) then you'll be dissapointed with this, I wanted a good quality TV for the bedroom but sadly this wasn't good enough, however someone with a less critical eye may find it adequate.
Great TV October 21, 2008 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
Bought this for the bedroom. Good clear picture with no blurring at all when watching sport which was very important to me. Setup easy just turn it on and follow the on screen instructions you can't go wrong. Auto tunes all the channels. sound quality is excellent for a tv this size. used in bedroom and loud enough to watch tv even at 1/4 of the volume. researched many tv's and this was the best all round value in this size and price bracket. if you dont want it in standby then turn it off. there is a button on the top next to the manual controls that turns it off so no wasted power!!!

Not as 'Green' as you may want? October 2, 2008 40 out of 81 found this review helpful
As we are told to switch off items at the mains in these 'green' days, perhaps the following emails may be of interest? I suggest this may be true of all Sony TV's. Anyway it's worth checking. It is not at all clear in the manual.
Question 1:My parents have just had a KDL26V4000 TV installed and they have been told to leave it on standby as it will lose settings if powered off? If this is true what about the enviroment and safety when going on holiday?
Sony Answer: I can inform you that you will not lose the settings from the TV if it is turned off using the switch on the front of the TV.
Question 2:Thanks for your prompt reply, however you have only partially answered the question. If they go away on holiday and unplug the television at the mains will it lose its settings?
Sony Answer : Unfortunately if you remove the plug from the mains then it is most likely that the channels will need to be re-tuned when it is plugged back in.
